Last week I was following a refuse collector at 45-50mph. A big long straight came up where I executed a very nice safe overtake with no other vehicles in sight, apart for the rear of the white scam van 800 yards down the road which I spotted as I drew level with the cab of the truck.

A glance at the speedo (largely irrelevant in this overtaking manouver) showed me to be doing an "eye watering" 73mph, as I pulled in on a trailing throttle my speed dropped painfully slowly down to 60 - Which is what I would have been doing anyway if the refuse collector hadn't been there. I'd dabbed the brakes too but didn't want to disturb the truck driver behind too much.

Anyway, I was out this morning and I need to go to the PO collection office to sign for a "special delivery". Do they do this?

"Reg"

Edited to add - in fact I notice they are Mid and South Wales "Safety" CP

I should add the collection office closed at 12.30 so I won't know until Monday. Not that I give a stuff really - I just don't want them to have the satisfaction of another kill.

Unfortunately, if they choose to use a recorded delivery service, then the NIP is deemed served even if you have not collected it..

s.1 Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988 said:
(2) A notice shall be deemed for the purposes of subsection (1)(c) above to have been served on a person if it was sent by registered post or recorded delivery service addressed to him at his last known address, notwithstanding that the notice was returned as undelivered or was for any other reason not received by him.

Never seen it done. They're too tight. Usually it's just 1st class post with the S.Wales wcensoreds.

I imagine it's a case of "2 + 2". Hopefully the answer is "=5" and not "60 + 3" - Streaky

Precisely Streaky - I'm not expecting anything else by special delivery.
