Mail On Sunday - finally some proof about speed cams...

Article is very long so I won't post it - but it confirms a lot of what everyone has already known.
Undercover reporters posed as Eastern European businessmen and approached Tele-Traffic as buyers for speedcam equipment. The ex-BiB working for Tele-Traffic let their guard down and spilt a few secrets...

That is one sweeeeeeet sting operation.
Just about everything said on here against greed cameras and the scumera pratnershits that run these unaccountable cash raking empires is verified. The only thing wrong is we haven't been hard enough on these extortionists.
Now heads should roll, starting at the top.

I've read the article - it is just mind-boggling.
First the undercover TV sting on the parking ticketing "companies", and now this.
The people behind the national scamera networks should be arrested for extortion in my honest opinion. It is frankly disgusting how the state is allowing this abuse of its citizens - it is legalised robbery, nothing more.
It makes me so angry words fail me. Especially as my missus has just received a notice to prosecute through the post today, two and a half months after the alleged "offence". So long ago, we haven't a clue who was driving her car on that day.

Now theres a moral dilemma.
An interesting newspaper article but in The Mail.
I'll be purchasing two brown paper bags and a newspaper in the morning then.

I saw another thread on this and wondered how the PH massive woul react to the need to support an article in the Mail. Odd thing is how it conflicts with their reporting of the Richard Hammond accident a few weeks ago!
However can't imagine the article or rather the contents thereof, are a surprise?

They need to be received within 14 days (plus a couple to allow for postal system), otherwise they're invalid. Not sure what you do with it though - either someone here will say, or have a look at pepipoo.co.uk
As for the article, people mention the dilemma of buying the Mail, I'm more impressed that the anti-speeding AND anti-government paper ended up favouring anti-govt

Very little if anything will come from this sting though.
The government probably does believe its own hype regarding speed cameras and road safety, and woln't let an article in a newspaper stop it. I dont believe it is only motivated by greed, but also utter ineptitude.

Sadly I have to agree - nothing will change

Well at least it brings to the attention of the public what we already know, the more of this type of reporting the better.
It's as plain as the nose on our face that cameras can only do one thing... raise revenue, that's just common sense, but unfortunately some people believe all the 'safety' spin that they're constantly fed that attempts to justify the massive revenue earner and job creation scheme that cameras really are. You can't blame them for being that gullible when the spin comes from the very place that should be trustworthy ie government.
The more of this exposure of speed enforcement corruption the better!

hey, dont forget the mail previously had an artical on the inaccuraces of the LTI 20/20
- StreakyNot so sure about "nothing will change" since public attitudes will now harden even more against these red herring revenue raisers and any politico being too strident in their defence will suffer a kick in the polls. Time for some handwashing in westminster. Some of the non-job safety
industry revenue raising people out there will be feeling like pariahs with pox.
The article shows that speed enforcement sites are set up in order to - in the words of a former plod and ex scumera pratner5hit manager - catch businessmen going to work in the mornings, school run mums in the afternoon, using operators that have not had the training required by law, and generate such 'bucketfuls' of cash that processing the fines swamps the Court administrators to the limit of their administrative capability, under a system altered by the government to let enforcers take all the flak while the Treasury takes all the money.
Let's see the 1.25 dreamworld BiB on here worm and wriggle out of this one. Probably practising a choice phrase or two right now

The more papers and TV report the b***x that is "road safety" in the UK then the more people will stop supporting them. It can't be a bad thing surely? I mean, all the old biddies going round explaining that Speed Kills etc.. and this is all about Safety then hear about this? (You can bet your bottom dollar it is the same biddies who buy the Mail)...
Hopefully The Sun and the BBC News will also get on with it. The more people who finally realise it is about Tax and not safety, the (/Live in Dream World Mode, ON) more people will actually attempt to drive safely, paying attention to the hazards and not simply their speedo (/Live in Dream World Mode, OFF).

In the context of total government income speeding fines are a virtual irrelevance. The Scamera partnerships are indeed motivated by greed, but the government has a different agenda, simply to make the lives of motorists as difficult as possible.
I have no doubt that they are aware that the speed camera policy results in little or no improvement in road safety.
While all this serves to do is confirm what we all thought anyway, nevertheless it boils my p1ss. Corruption and sleaze, officially endorsed and suported by the Government is not a new thing by any means, but usually it is the fat cats of industry that are funding it. This is funded directly out of our pockets, and all the while we are lectured and talked down to about safety with the most breathtaking hypocrisy by people whose only interest is money. Scandalous.
