I`ve just phoned up MORETHAN to change our reg number on our Elise135 and the guy on the other end says he can`t do it and he is being told that the policy needs to be cancelled because its a group 20 car and they only insure upto group 18. he said it was a technical error because i bought on line! The fact that i have spoken to them on numerous occasions and have a claim going thru with them seem to be irrelivant!
Can they do this??
He said the claim will go thru as normal (nonfault claim!) and then I`d have 7 days to get new insurance!

Talk about ing fuming!mad

I have told him in no uncertain terms that if I get insurance elsewhere and it costs me more, then I`ll expect the difference from them as I bought the car on the basis of their quote! So he`s going to speak to the underwriters and get back to me tomorrow!

Any advice welcome

This will all come down in the small print of the insurance documetation. In that section there will be something about your rights and the insuance companies rights to end the agreement. It may say that either party can end the agreement without notice. In which case what they are doing is quite legal. There may also be a section where they are allowed to change the insurance cost or right to insure should your level of risk or circumstances change.

If a claim is made, the entire year's premium is also due, how long till renewal?
It may not be worth cutting off your nose etc.

I have come across similar infuriating situations. (I have a TVR). Go to web site, spend 5 minutes typing in details etc., select manufacturer and car from their drop down list, click "Get Quote" and mesage on screen says (or something similar) "We can not quote for this vehicle on line, please call one of our customer advisers on ...".

1) If I wanted to *rse about on a phone for half an hour I would have done that in the first place and not bothered on line.

2) If they don't want to quote for the vehicle on line remove it from the ****ing list.
