Here's one for you then.............

I'm trying to sell my Uncles old Honda. He's emigrated and left it in my hands. The tax ran out on 31/10. The MOT is valid until the end of May 2007. The car is insured, but not by my Uncle. The V5 is still in my Uncles name.

Can I go to the post office and tax the car using the insurance document and current MOT, even though I'm not the current owner? Or, do I simply knock a few quid off for any potential purchaser and let them tax it when they send the V5 off. I don't want to have to become an owner on th elog book simply to tax the car.

The car is not yet SORN'd, so I guess that needs to happen sharpish if it doesn't sell.

Anyone had any previous experiences like this?

Cheers
Matt

I cant see why not provided all the docs match up to give a V5, MOT and insurance. My wife regularly buys the tax for 4 gridgway family cars which aall have me as reg keeper.

Aye, doesn't have to be the owner taxing it, nor does it have to be them that insures it (you don't need to drive to own a car).
