This was on the AOL news feed hanging off the report about Mr. Burke's internment.

Are speed cameras mainly about...?
Results: Votes Per cent
Saving lives 3,206 9%
Making money 32,827 91%

Total votes: 36,033

Previous polls, for which I have a healthy scepticism by the way, have tened to be somewhere around the 30% think its about safety and 70% that its about money.

Soooo.. either the public is changing its mind OR the clientele of AOL has a rapidly altered demography.

I wonder which is the case?

Edit: Another 2000 votes added in the last 2 hours and still the same split

Given the aol volume as large IPS/e-mail provider - I think their poll ist probably quite representative und without undue "influx" - which make result more valid as a poll of opinion out in real world of persons who are not as enthusiastic about cars und have the same love of true driving skills - which also mean safe speeds as most of us who haunt the motoring sites

We all want a greater emphasis on safe driving skills und practices und a just und fair enforcement.. as opposed to be being pinged by lottery of a loaded scam located where it rake in revenue .. but does not improve standards nor real safety. anywhere und can never subsititute a real Hendon/professionally trained und objective policeman

I think its now a common consensus, amoungst all motorsits, that cameras are only for money. Maybe, just maybe, it is the beginning of the end...........

Just read the aol posters chat, they seem a bit uninformed compared to the postings on here. Decided not to post over there as it would be a waste of time. I reckon some of them must be on drugs, silver dragon or whatever his name is, lol. Must be on magic mushrooms.

Boosted.

The tide is turning. More people are getting done for exceeding a limit under circumstances where exceeding the limit is perfectly safe.

I tend not to, but only because I don't want to be scammed. A bad limit under such circumstances sticks out like a sore thumb. There are many of these!

Two-page spread in today's Leamington Courier about a speed camera just a few yards into a temporary 30 limit near roadworks in Barford south of Warwick. Stephen Rumble, Warwickshire scam PR, says there's lots of signs. The paper points out that there are, but the camera is only just inside the temporary 30 limit which you approach round a bend and for which there's no warning. Lots of normal people are quoted as saying this camera is to raise cash not for safety.

But it's ok now, because the camera has been removed. Strange, when its purpose was for road safety.

Then write to the paper, and demand the re-introduction of the camera in case thousands of innocent children are mowed down... See what the SCP says....And ask them exactly Why this camera has been removed if the roadworks are still there.
