Breathalyser Machine
Discussion
Figured this may be the best place to post this but can anyone recommend a decent, accurate breathalyser machine?
I'm not one for DD at all but seeing the random breath tests in my area this morning, the morning after thing made me think a bit as i am prone to the odd few of an evening etc and don't particularly wish to drive about the next day still being over the limit, no matter how well I feel!

you can buy fairly basic ones off of ebay - theyre about a tenner iirc and i had one for a while and it gave good service. im not stupid enough to DDbut the morning after if i was a bit unsure it was handy. it was unreliable though - though gave a basic indication- id recommend paying a bit more and getting a half decent one. i only dont use it now becaue a 'mate' poured beer into it and it never worked again.

Completely agreed. If the 'amateur' machines dont have to perform to a professional standard and will no doubt be packaged with disclaimers, a faulty or inaccurate system could be worse than none at all - it could be leading you into a false sense of security.
Further to that, although I see your intentions are good, using the fact that you own one of these should they misread and you get caught out, in court it may actually look like you are habitually 'riding the line' and the device was assistance in this.
Its an important situation though, and would be good if there was some way to address it. I never drink and drive, non even a 'swift shandy' so I know where I stand exactly. Others though can drink 'up to the limit' and still be under. The problem does come the next morning on the drive to work/home because it is simply impossible to accurately calculate to see if you are 'under' the limit. As such, it is a bit of a 'grey area' for the public to avoid. The dont want to break the law - and certainly dont want to drink and drive, but the next day they have to 'guess' whether they are over the limit - unless they dont drink at all maybe up to 16 hours after drinking, that means not only finding a 'designated driver' for the night out, but also the next morning too!
