Don't know if this is the place for this, but Today I was driving past Stroud College where they have had some road works, But I didn't see a huge pothole in the road due to the rain, now I need a new tyre as it has a bulge in the side, and there only just wore in (I actually want two as they are directional) I have pics and everything, but who do I chase to beat some money out of them, they ain't cheap, Eagle F1's, £175 for 2!
Cheers, Lee

A friend of mine (why is it always our friends on this forum) had a similar exprience but completely farked the wheel as well.

He phoned the local council roads department who said that as they were not yet aware of the problem, they were not liable. If it had already been reported but not repaired, then he'd have had a better chance of a claim.

Address your claim with evidence (pix's hole, tyre, and cost to replace)to the Highways Department of your local Council.

Address may be on the Web or your local phone book.

Technically Boss is right but if you can get evidence from someone living near the hole that it has been of long standing this should assist your claim.

I'll get my brother to report it first then!!

I did know someone years back that had a simular incident when a temporary reapiar of hardcore washed away during a storm, he got a new wheel and tyre, but have no idea where he is now or where he complained, I guess I'll email the HA and the Council, you never know, they might both payup!!

HA only if it's a trunk road - council of not.

Is there any Trunk Roads left?.

The number of Statutory Instruments that have been flying around this year Detrunking
have been numerous. In doing so money for maintenance etc onto LA as opposed to HMG.

?? Why two? Tread direction is determined when the tyre is put on the wheel.

you'll have trouble claiming two! i have gsd3's on mine. and they are directional but can go on either side! also, you only damaged one tyre, and at £175 for two that is awesome - mine are £500 for 4!
