Hi,

Quick question - I have DOC on my insurance policy, and that means I can drive other cars with the owners' permission. My question is, how does that work if the car is leased? Do I need to get in touch with the lease company first to get their permission, or will the person who 'owns' the car suffice?

Cheers all

Im tempted to say that if you have the permission of the person to whom the car was leased then youd be ok as it is for all intents and purposes 'thier car'.
However, I wont because theres no hard and fast rule with regard to this. The only definitive solution would be to ring the leasing company and find out what thier policy is as you can guarantee that different companies have different policies about this kind of thing

I'd check the wording.

In my case, I'm 99% sure that although mine states that I can drive any other car 3rd-party, it does specifically exclude leased and company vehicles.

What if the condition of the lease requires comprehensive insurance (to protect their property)?
