parking ticket - not a yellow line in sight!
wonder if anyone can help... parked up in Hertford on Saturday morning in a side road where I often park (non residential). There are no yellow lines anywhere on the road. Got back to warden issuing a ticket. According to him there is a "restricted zone" and to be faire there was a sign (not that you could see if from a car) saying restricted zone as you turn into the road. The TW reckoned that this zone extended the first x number of feet along the road (I must have been 20-30 feet from the junction).
Clearly I am somewhat aggrieved having parked somewhere with no lines, where lots of other cars were parked (who weren't ticketed) and to have a demand for a fine. Can anyone shed any light? Many Thanks..

What is the offence listed on the ticket?
Make sure that there are two dates on the ticket - date of issue and date of offence. If not invalid ticket.
Would seem that with your knowledge of the area you need to see the relevant Traffic Regulation Order held by LA which should spell out the restriction in full. From this you may be able to prove who was right and who was wrong.

Was it a 'restricted parking', or 'restricted access' - if the former then you need to check exactly what the sign says to see what's restricted. If it's the latter than just being there could be the offence.
the ticket states "parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours"
