In tonight's London "theLondonPaper" (cant find a web link) on page 5 there is a story that reports
"Almost one third of all the parking wardens at a london council have been sacked for working illegally in the UK.
The 40 attendants were employed by Hackney Council's parking enforcemnet contractors Central Parking System (CPS) in east london.
They were axed as it emerged they'd used false documents to get a job.....we were advised by the Home office that a number [of wardens] were not permitted to work in the uk"

They were sacked just before christmas.

"If we have carried on employing these people we would have been breaking the law and could have been fined"

I ask the question then, if they were not legally employed, are the tickets that they issued legal? confused

am i right in thinking that under the RTA a parking ticket is illegal if it is not stuck to a vehicle and instead put under the windscreen wiper?

Doesn't need to even be served at the time in Hackney...

Still, good news that the County Council gave such a t**s about the law rather than collecting of money in fines that they took on anyone without the proper checks. And really pleasing to know that council tax money was spent on wages for these illegals.

As a Hackney resident that does not surprise me in the slightest.

I have been having an ongoing campaign with the council and their parking services for the past couple of years.
In that time had about 24 tickets cancelled (mainly the neighbours) because they were issued incorrectly.

Some of them even had the incorrect street on them because they thought they could get around it that way.

I would assume that any issued by those "illegals" would be invalid but think that should be something for pepipoo to look at .
