This is getting to be a bit of a weekly thread, in the same vein as "5th Gear is a big pile of shit / acceptable because it has VBH / At least it's about cars"

But tonight's episode really made me laugh:

They stop a man for speeding, and because he looks like Renton from Trainspotting (only less glamorous), they test him for drugs. The policeman read out a list of the drugs in his urine (the doctor couldn't locate a vein):

Smack, speed, coke, weed. Okay, he didn't actually use those words

Anyway, Jamie Theakston's reading out the 'results' at the end. This guy got banned for a subsequent / unrelated drink driving charge, but was let off the drug driving because "The prosecution failed to produce any evidence" (maybe they forgot to set the video!)

I bet that made the Bib feel great!

Little Miss Dozey parked about 5ft from the kerb, with headlights on facing on-coming cars, parked on zig-zags while her fat friends get a Chinese. Fat friends response (something along these lines) "why are you doing her for stopping outside a Chinese take-away when there are lunatics out there exceeding speed limits by 5mph"
Well probably because it is MORE dangerous to use zig-zags as drop-off points for lazy hairdressers to pick-up thier egg fried rice???
Did feel sorry for the girl, as you could see she was not expirenced and was probably her hungery occupants who told her to stop their!!

almost as good as the smug policeman who gave that 18yr old girl 3 points and a fine for waiting on a zig zag line. she wasn't even parked! he could have just asked her to move. what a jobsworth. mad

And in those posts are both sides of the argument about the parker!

I think the same result (stopping her doing it again) could have been achieved with a stern talking to, but I suppose a £60 ticket is quicker and easier.

and more relevant is that the policeman probably bumps his stats up nicely by issuing a ticket where as a warning wouldn't show how good at catching people he is. Almost like the arrangement for salesmen at Dixons...it's all about stats.

I agree, a slap on the wrist would have got the message through. Of course she will be on probation for two years and if she strays over the limit, even tad from now on she will lose her license!

Smiler.

Parking on zig-zags is a huge no-no. There's no justification at all, and everyone should know that it's an instant 3pts and £60 fine (I did even before I become interested in road law).

No excuse in this case, if it was a double yellow then whinge away - but zig-zags are nono

it's strange. it's a rubbish program but also quite addictive. it may also give the odd insight into how to beat the cops at their own game...

As a relative local to this programme I think it shows they are a balanced lot down here and not unduely unreasonable.
Re the daft tart parked on the zig zags outside the chinese. The copper made it clear that to be parked facing the on coming traffic, 3 foot off the kerb, on a pedestrian crossing zig zag markings was an instant ticket and to be honest with you, I agree with him yes, too many bad points well beyond a telling off.

No sympathy for her with me I'm afraid.
Stopping there just displays bone idleness & a lack of consideration for anybody else.

Have to agree. One element of dopiness is okay, but a number of them is beyond words.

Talking of stopping in a stupid place, what about the copper who dumped his volvo in the middle of the road opposite a junction just to tell some kids off for smoking a bit of weed?

That was weird, but didn't seem to cause any problems...

It was actually the entrance road to Sainsbury's at the bottom of the M275 and if late evening in summer it may have been closed yes.

Earth shattering events (like bad parking) aside. What about the guy who was let off because the prosecution offered no evidence?

Did they spill his cup of drug-laced piss down the drain?

who me ?

I wait for others to correct me , but i got the impression when he walked up to the car that he was making his mind up which way to play it and the drivers mouthy friend got his back up and made his mind up for him.

That's a pet hate of mine! They don't even have the presence of mind to turn their bloody headlights off when they've pulled over, especially facing the wrong way which means the beam points straight into oncoming drivers faces! See it all the time, even taxi drivers.
