South Yorkshire mobile cameras
Discussion
Had a panic phone call today.
South Yorks traffic car, thought to be a Volvo, parked up down side road, trafpol on the road with a tripod mounted device that appeared to be a mini gatso.
BUT they were pulling passing cars, so was it a gatso?
I thought it must be ANPR, but traffic cars hereabouts have ANPR cameras mounted on the roof.
So I'm puzzled.
Talivans sometimes use mini gatsos, but they don't pull passing cars.
Anybody know what S Yorks trafpol use on standalone tripods..?

As far as my experience goes they don't bother with tripods at all. Use them hand held and fire in their cars through the windscreen while hiding behind embankments and parked on slip roads. [rant over]
Rewind my first post...
Seems it wasn't a standalone mini tripod thing....
It was a tall tripod...plod was holding it and pointing a SMALL camera at traffic...
Sounds very much like ANPR to me...
'Twas on Abbeydale Road South, in the 30 opposite Millhouses Park, near the Waggon & Hosses, city bound side.
