The inquest into the death of the prisoner in custody in Poole Police Station is still ongoing.I know you were interested in the custody suite angle being an ex custody suite officer yourself. It would appear from this comment from tonight's paper that they are having problems resourcing the role of custody Sergeant ( the remainder of the staff in the suite are civilians).
"Chief Inspector and custody manager for Dorset Police Michael Rogers maintained that there were sufficient staff in Poole custody suite despite having had several complaints about detention officers being overworked.
He said that the custody sergeant was able to bring in extra detention officers if he thought it was necessary.
He told the inquest that he had problems in getting experienced sergeants to work in custody suites.
He said: "I was not comfortable with using relatively inexperienced custody sergeants in this important position but there was no other option."
