I have got my speed awareness course tomorrow in Warwickshire. This should save me getting points. so long as I dont misbehave.
It is miles from me (I am south of Guildford) it is up near Leamington Spa.
I wonder how fst I can get there? TVR Cerbera or sensible Merc Estate. Camera detectors on or off !? DO I mention how fast I drove at Le Mans in 05?

Take the cerb, and detectors definately on!

I'm dreading ever getting offered one of those courses, I know it's better than 3 points, but I really don't suffer bull3hit gladly, and I don't know if I could handle it to be honest!

Two mates have been on them. One said it was ok, and that night started preaching to us in the pub about stopping distances and "they're right you know" !! He got laughed down a peg or two.

The other is an outspoken doctor, a colourful character who gave them lots of information they didn't want to hear, but they probably couldn't understand his German talk anyway!

Anyway, good luck, take a bag, and let us now how good or bad it was if you survive.

Aye, it would be a real struggle for me too.

From what I hear these courses vary quite a lot, depending on which area they're in and the mentality of those conducting them. It could be a complete PITA, or it could be quite reasonable and indeed helpful to some degree.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Are you allowed to argue the point with them? Especially if you go armed with evidence?

Or would that just get you the original 3pts?

I just completed one of these courses last week in Lancashire. Go armed with evidence - they are prepared to debate but invariably take the moral high ground and will show you a video of a child being knocked down at 35mph. I found the whole thing patronising, but it saved me 3 points. You will only collect the original points if you fail to complete the course.

As long as I'm not on 9 points, I'm gonna tell em to stick it where the sun dosen't shine.

It's just a load of patronising, condasending shiterolleyes

Agreed and I thought that, but then you might not be offered the course when you desperately need it. Take it while it's being offered.

What a course !! Quite a cross section of people attended.
It was ok. Lots of stuff re speed limits, conditions, costs, impacts etc... Not very hard hitting. We were all 35 in 30 or 46 in 40 people so no loons there. One or two argumentative types. I just spent 3 hours laughing like I was at school again. The stupidity of some people is amazing !!!
I am glad I went ie I avoided 3 points and I enjoyed the company of one or two unusual people BUT I also learnt one or two things that I guess were worthwhile.
In the end I went in the merc as I had some items to pick up on the return journey.
(Oh and I got a free key ring, a pen and a highway code).

Didn't realise the Scam partnerships were that quick. Less than 48 hours between offence detected and NIP served!
