Something to savour from Local Transport Today...
Discussion
From this week's edition of Local Transport Today.
It's old news of course - we knew this much over a year ago - but the choice of words in LTT is really rather nice to read.
The underlying reality is that the 'generals' at DfT are in full retreat leaving their 'troops' at local authorities to take the heat. Rest assured we'll follow the generals and complete the rout.

Paul - not to spoil your enjoyment, but the new "guidance" is now significantly weaker. "Expected" is not "mandated", "should" is not "must". And that the scamera pratnership "may wish to consider" the last site selection criteria has no value at all - Streaky
Yep. It's all about the DfT stepping back as far as possible. "It's not down to us - you'll have to take it up with the local authority."
But whatever way they try and spin it, DfT is responsible for road safety policy.
