going to be screwed for 112mph on dual carriage way.
Discussion
My deepest sympathies, chap. What a cock arsed world that you're having to face all this stress for something as trivial as that.
I wonder what planet these magistrates are from? I mean confusing driving at 112mph with something important or unusual?
I've heard of short bans for this with grovelling. Can you maybe book your holiday from work at the ban time and get about another way? It'll keep the fine down a bit if you can work out a ban.
Sorry again, I wonder if the PTB will ever see the light here and stop overreacting...

Nah.
They haven't in forty years - I don't think they are likely to in future.

with a 14 day ban do you need to re-take your test?
Not usually.
My guesstimate would be 50% chance of 6 points if you are a very good groveller, or 50% chance of short ban. It is very unlikely you will need to retake your test.
Way out - how were you caught?
You can plead not guilty to the 112mph but guilty to say 95, and you would escape with 5 points or so. You would most likely need a solicitor though.

i passed 5 or 6 years ago and kept a clean liscence throughout but the gone and done something stupid like this.
Not stupid unless you felt the speed was not appropriate for the conditions ? Wide open dual carriageway at 112mph doesn't sound that bad on the face of it.

Wouldn't call it bright when the potential consequences of getting caught at that speed are widely known & the OP clearly fears them, would you ?
Hiya
Unfortuneately i've been done quite a few times, but I've been driving for 16 years... Last time was 96mph, not a soul on the road, dry, clear, 6 points and £400 in court, - which meant a ban as I had 6 points already. 6 months.....
Through experience just depends on the magistrate on the day. I've twice been to court, Get a Solicitor DEFINATELY. Mark Dickson in Inverness is great, treats it like a challenge to get people off

FWIW I was done on an empty dual-carriageway a few years back for 105 mph. I already had 3 points for 96 mph on an M-way in the same county the year before.
Compulsory court appearance, defended myself, got 6 points and £100 fine. Plod were good, they commented that although the speed was excessive, in their opinion it wasn't dangerous. Had to drive like a monk for the next couple of years to avoid totting-up ban for any further misdemeanour.

i have no points on my liscence and use my car for work but have done the stupid thing and been caught on a clear dual carriage way at 112mph. any body have any advice or know what i can expect?
How were you caught? I've heard of cases where bike cops have pulled someone for doing similar speeds - but for whatever reason (no video evidence? No calibrated speedo? police doubtful of a prosecution in front of a magistrate? someone lost the paperwork at the cop shop? cops discreetly 'forgetting' about it? who knows!) nothing ever came of them except a good bollocking by the copper at the time of the pull.
Apparently the courts have a scale which they determine your punishment. This scale runs up to 114mph, so I guess whatever you receive will be largely pre-determined - this is what I was told when I went to court.
I was up for 120.28mph in a 70 limit. I had 6 points. I was told to expect 6 months ban and £500 fine. For whatever reason my actual resulting punishment was no points, 3 months ban and £150 + £35 court costs.
Good luck with your case!

I too got pipped - 3years ago now,oh how time flies - 101.58 on m/way. I had a couple of old ones on licence, spoke to my solicitor who recommended I "saved paying his fees to put towards the fine" I was going to get.
Had the duty solicitor on the day, who told me BEFORE I went in what I would get !!
My solicitor told me to 'get the old points removed before the day' and technically I would be going into court with a clean sheet.
Got myself a 'pleading letter' from the company and presented it on the day.
Came out with 6 points and a £340 fine (and a sigh of relief !)
