Whilst exiting a 40mph limit and entering a 1/2 mile 30mph limit, I passed a white, unmarked, no police signs/chevrons trasit van with ANSA surveying on the side.

I was doing about 35 rolleyes as I looked in my rear view I saw the tell tale smoked square rear window on the back of the transit.

Was this a speed detecting van?? And have I got 2 weeks of worry to follow to see if I've picked up 3 points if I was indeed over the posted limit?

A worried & pi$$ed off Caduceus

speed vans have to display the speed camera warning sign 100yds or less from the monitoring vehicle I believe, (unless there are camera signs posted for fixed cameras).
Theres a number of other requirements, such as not on a bend, by overhead pylons etc.
My guess is that it wasnt what you thought. The ones they use for checking cars without tax discs sounds more likely to me

ANSA is a subcontract firm which deals with surveying drainage systems, might be an insurance job or something like that.

Speeding? Guilty conscience?

Move along please, nothing to see here. hehe

rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl

Warning signs are optional and never used and they prefer to sit on bends to they can shoot round the corner without being seen. I see plenty of these scamera vans in my travels, even managed to get ticketed by a particularly well hidden one recently.

Sounds like a conbtractors van doing maintenance ?

ANPR and Scam vans are generally clearly marked on the sides.

Ah. I see now. I saw a white van with TRANSIT written on the side of it but discounted that as being significant. I assumed there was something significant about an ANSA vehicle.

Nah, not ANSA as such, just the smoked window at the rear that made me think otherwise.
Thanks Flat for the info. And breathe.....
