Speeding ticket in New York
Discussion
Hi,
I have just received a speeding ticket from the highway patrol in New York state - I was clocked at 86mph in a 65mph limit. I was pulled over and told to remain in the vehicle while the officer wrote out the ticket. He then gave it to me. Now it states that I have a court date - there is no option to pay a fine - and that I can plead by post as I won't be in the country for the hearing.
What I would like to know is:
What is the fine likely to be?
Is there an option to plead not guilty and draw the process out a little in the hope they drop it?
Lastly can I just ignore it, or will I be arrested when I come back to the USA?
Cheers!
