Roadworks coming to Warks M6? Just seen SPECS posts...

Oh joy, the mind-numbing and dangerous pest that is SPECS-equipped roadworks is coming near to me.

Out yesterday, saw a couple of blue SPECS posts and a whole stream of traffic cones along the edge of the hard shoulder on the M6 southbound just after J2. Not sure if it stretches back before J2 (and how far?!?).


So the only questions are:-
- How much disruption are they going to cause?
- For how long?!?
- Is it going to 'creep' backwards or forwards after they're done in that spot?



The thing is, I can't see much wrong with the tarmac along there - seen far worse stretches of M-way (and FAR FAR worse stretches of local roads). And that stretch doesn't need widening as it's not that busy.

So why are they putting roadworks up?
- Pre-emptive work (please let it be so!)?;
- Utilities-driven roadworks (e.g. gas pipeline)?;
- Trying to use up their budget before 5th April?;
- M42-esque road-management and GATSO-gantries (No, please God no!!!)?!?;
- (Conspiracy theory mode) As part of a creeping programme of SPECS-ing the whole M-way network?!?
