www.cps.gov.uk/about/consultations/pbd_index.html

A lot of us on here have strong views about how we should go about punishing bad drivers, what bad driving is and how it should be defined.

Well it turns out the CPS want our views.

OK. Not specifically ours but they really did ought to get them.

You can read the consultation document (its in PDF form) then download Word document template for your chance to reply which you then email to their address.

Needs to be done by 16th March.

Fill yer boots boys and girls.

Mobiles and tailgating for me.
And weaving due to lack of concentration, lane hoggers, people that can't take off full beam when they see you until you've already gone blind, and people with one light working on full beam to make up for the broken bulb on the other side.

And yes, I am of course perfect in every repect! angel

Tailgating, general pushiness, following too closely spaced in queues on the open road, and mis-use of lights are my main beefs. I don't find much of a problem otherwise.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

I'd worry greatly about asking the general public about bad driving.

Perhaps if someone wanted to submit their views their driving should be checked first just to see where they're coming from.

Personally I'd like to see a minimum of punishing and a maximum of educating, I don't believe the vast majority of people go out of their way to drive like 2@s, they just don't realise that they're doing it. Show them the error of their ways ( acid trafpol lectures preferred ).

I'd echo this thought, and perhaps use "country pursuits" (lets leave it as wide as that) as an example.
They don't affect much of the general public yet they've all be "educated" to have an opinion.

Individuals with no passion for driving and see it as a means of getting from A to B, are quite susceptable to the "brainwashing" of the dangers of breaking the speed limit etc.

I would be interested to know what proportion of the General Public don't actually drive any distance more than once a week, and would then question if that percentage was sufficiently aware of all the issues on our roads today to have a valid opinion.

(unlikely that the government would seek to protect the interests of a minority group of enthusiastic motorists)

Which is why its important some people who hold reasonable views, rather than speed-kills-cars-are-bad-only-last-tuesday-a-4x4-cut-me-up idiots, actually read the document and respond intelligently.

Which is why I posted it here!
