Longer Gatso Markings?

I have noticed that round my way Gatso markings on the road seem to be doubling or even trebling the distance that they cover past the camera. Is this just a cynical way of Highway Engineers to try and get us to keep our foot off the gas for a few seconds longer or have the camera's paramemters changed?

Anyone know?

Sorry, don't know the answer, but have noticed the same thing in and around Kingston and Sunbury
