Big thanks to the unmarked crew who pulled Mr New Mini on Friday eve whilst crusing down the M3 eastbound biglaugh

Little git was about 1m off my bumper whilst cruising at an indicated 85mph in busy'ish but well spaced out line of outside laners, other cars in front so I was just making progress quite safely I might add. This tt was being a right pain, I could'nt make further progress so I stayed my ground & more or less ignored him. After a good few miles the traffic cleared I moved over Mr Mini then goes for the next victim, straight up the chuff of the car in front.........

Followed by an unmarked which promptly lit up like a christmas tree biglaugh As plod pulled by me I gave a toot & received a thumbup from the passenger.

Hopefully he got a DWDC & DD and gets his licence removed & stuffed up his *ss

Its events like this that make me happy we have real policeman on our roads

Now now, I prefer officers to cameras (as I have said repeatedly).
But actually tailgating cameras are being trialed (& they have them on the autobahns already don't you know) silly

All well & good until someone pulls in front of you just at a camera point The autobahn ones are always at the overhead bridges, with white lines marked on the roads.

why would he be done for DWDCA ? if anything, he would probably have been driving with more care and attention to keep that close to you !!!!

Without Due Care!, the fact he was so close would mean he would'nt be able to pay to attention to anything other than my rear bumper. He may well have been fully alert yes but not to anything else going around him. Bang the censored up thats what I say, permanently remove their licence & give them a censoreding bus pass.

If the road was less empty with no-one else to see he may well have found my towbar stuffed up his bonnet

What the cpt says is true. You risk serious injury and damage to your car through no fault of your own, just because someone is being a bully. Doesn't matter how much attention you are paying, or how good your reactions and brakes are. If someone is too close, they won't stop

Not entirely true.
If they see what you are going to brake for before you do, act before you do & can out perform your braking, then they will stop without hitting you.
Of course what you (infront) want to do is ensure they don't run into the back of you, by leaving a larger margin for braking, so that you never have to apply the brakes hurriedly or too firmly.

Doesn't excuse bullying or inappropriate tailgating though.

Ten years from now a new type of camera will be logged onto pistonheads to give us advise about motoring

Do they actually prosecute for DWDC in these circumstances, or would he just be done for speeding?

I just move over, and then usually, a few minutes later, end up undertaking them whilst they are full on the brakes.

Oh to be able to fit a James Bond style oil slick or stinger to your rear bumper.

At least there is one less tailgating muppet about. Trouble is if i have one of these muppet on my bumper, i instinctively leave a bigger gap in front so i have more braking distance if needed.

what unmarked car was it on m3?
