Notification of a speeding fine

Is this the first notification of any kind?
Was NOIP sent within 14days of offence (ignoring date of offence) other than sexcond class post?
Was Form under S172 RTA 88 sent to Keeper to name driver?
Did he do so?
Did you get a summons to attend Court?
Has there been any change of ownership of the vehicle incvolved around the time of the offence?
How long is a piece of string?

err...here goes
It was the first time I had heard about the speeding offence however the car is a company car so they might have had info given to them (the company)to which they had to respond. Its further complicated by the fact that I dont work for them anymore but they still obviously have my details so that shouldnt have affected anything
Its not a court summons but rather an intention to prosecute as a result of being zapped by aa mobile camera. im guessing 3 pts and £60 (62mph in a 50mph zone).
i was just wondering if they had to let you know within any time period, say 3 months...

The NIP would have had to have been sent to the registered keeper within 14 days.
Beyond that any subsequent NIP sent in relation to it, is not time limited within statute, other than the limitations of the prosecution having to instigating proceedings by laying information before the court within 6 months of the offence.
This is what you want to do - sit on the NIP til the 26th day, send a letter requesting a photo to assist identifying the driver (as you don't know if it was you or your fiance?) and then sit back and watch the offense time out as they won't have time to lay an information (check PePiPoo for more info)
So what you are saying is that Company were the Reg Keeper and it looks as if the NOIP was sent to them (presumably in the time limit) along with the 172 Form to name the driver. Looks like they have named you as the driver, returned the form so SCP are now sending you the 172 Form to confirm you were the driver at the time of the alleged offence. You have 28 days to fill in sign and return otherwise offence for which they can take you to court for.
Ball now in your Court if you want to admit as you have above, in which case it will be £60/3 points providing you have less that 9 active points on your Licence.
Limitation on proceedings will expire in or around May time ( 6 months from coming to the notice of the prosecutor). SCP will be aware of this and may well lay an information for both possible offences before LOP expire so that they play around more and over the 6 months with possible summons.
Whilst they cannot do you for speeding so far, as they haven't received the signed 172 seems they do issue 2 summons, one for speeding one for failing to name driver, the former on the hope one incrimnates themselves at Court.
