Landlords, Rented properties and Mice
Discussion
Last night the Gf almost had a heart attack when she discovered a mouse in the kitchen of her flat- and then we found all the mouse droppings followed by a mouse that had dies having fallen into a tube - so we spend the best part of 4 hours cleaning and scrubbing
The Gf has phoned the landlord who has basically told her he's not interested! And she is to sort it out herself - now if it was my house I could understand it as I own the house, but in a rented property surely the landlord has some responsibility?
Now I will look at the contract but, even if we get rid of the mice, surely he has a duty to get someone in to discover from where they came/get rid of them?
Any thoughts anyone?

in our rental agreement there is a clause in it that we have to keep the place vermin free.
we have had mice as its a flat in london in a victorian terrace, therefore lots of ways to get in.
traps and poison hasn't appeared to work, have found that keeping kitchen (source of food) very clean stops them visiting...failing that get a cat (one that likes the taste of mice!).

I typically catch 3 or 4 mice a week in my property (in live traps - deported to an alternative location). In my case it's the price you pay for living in a listed thatched cottage in the Cotswolds, complete with authentic half-inch gaps under the authentic 'Arts and Crafts' doors! If I was renting the property out, what would you expect me to do about it, exactly? Napalm a half mile exclusion zone around the house and patrol every night with a flamethrower?
Tell her to belt up and buy some mousetraps!
