To be honest its a different set of skills.. I'd be too busy trying to take the best view rather than the best racing line. Some tranfereable stuff like car balance and smoothness etc but with regards what your looking for driving at speed on a road means it would slow you down on a track.

...it'd probably make an excellent Top Gear style feature. "Cops vs" well not exactly robbers...

Bedford Autodrome or Rockingham would be a good venue - with a range of "exercises" including an autotest, some timed laps, a slalom etc

What about getting the cops into some old XJ6's while we the 'robbers' race ahead of them in some old Cortinas or Granadas, fake 'blag' bag in the boot, then onto a skid pan for some old style lairy oversteer chasing a la Professionals.

Losers get the first round in afterwards?

I think we might be going somwhere with this.
I do belive chest wigs, fake permed hair, tashes and flairs should be the order of the day too.
Plus the coppers can call everybody 'slags' fot that added authenticity.

The track drivers would end up stacking their vehicles pretty sharpish. Just look at how many world class racing drivers have met their maker on public roads.
