Getting rid of a dumped car, from private land
Discussion
My neighbour's grandson dumped a friends car on my neighbour's drive about 5 years ago and has since gone abroad and not been seen since.
She wants the car out of it but she doesn't have a V5 or any title to the car, it is not taxed and it is recorded as Un-licensed on the DVLA site.
So what options does she have for getting rid of it, the council or scrapies don't want to know as she has no V5 and she is pretty law abiding and wont dump it in the road.
What to do?
If this is on the wrong forum could a mod move it.

Dumping it on the road is not the right way to go about it, as a lwa abiding citizen.
If, however, it was pushed onto the road by miscreants, surely as a law-abiding citizen she would have the moral duty to inform the council of the fact, who would be down on it like hawks, as it has no VED, and would probably be gone the same day...

Does she have the keys? If so then get it onto the public road and inform the council.
That's the easy way of course.
Alternatively, why can't she ask her Grandson or his parents? They'll perhaps know the friend.
Thirdly - claim it via the DVLA - get a V5. Might be worth checking it wasn't stolen in the first place.
What is the position re claiming possesion of an abandoned car after a period of time

Local dogey scrappy takes car no problems
I turned up with a Renault 5 that had been dumped outside neighbours work and we shifted it before it got torched and scrappy took it no problem.
It was still locked and we had no keys
and you probably don't want to know how we got it on the trailer
