Friend of mine has just been fined and 3 penalty points times two for same speeding offence.
He is driving down dual carriageway with 30 limit and is flashed twice in space of one minute by two separate cameras while doing 40.
He is punished twice for same offence don't you think?
Is this a money maker or what?

I didnt think you could get prosecuted for speeding like this twice...might be worth calling them and pointing this out.

Perhaps on realising he had been caught he decided to prolong the offence so that he would at least get a shorter journey time in exchange for his £60?

...and why not?

He should have taken it to court and asked for it to be taken account of as one speeding offence.

A friend of mine got caught exactly like this when he had just passed his test. He was driving into Nottingham from J26 of the M1. There are about 6 camera's in the space of 3 miles or so. He got caught on the 2nd and 3rd cameras (about 1/2 mile apart) at 39 and 36 (both in 30 zones). He went to court and was banned (for reaching 6 pts) and had to re-take his test. Don't think he asked them to consider it as one offence, but not sure.

Under these circumstances I doubt that the Magistrates would entertain duplicity or continuing offence as that which happens when a Goods vehicle driver not only exceeds that for the class of the vehicle and that which is applicable under a speed order at the same time.
