On my way home, I noticed a dark coloured Punto trying to catch up on a dual carriageway. Eventually, he did catch up and when I looked across at the driver who matched my speed, I noticed a car with three lads (some of them probably no more than 18) and the driver brandished what could be construed to be a police ID card, and was brandishing it in my direction.

He also appeared that he wanted me to pull over, before pulling in front.

Then, when he realised I was not going to pull over, he appeared to give the thumbs up.

I followed for a while, making a note of his reg number, which I remember well, before overtaking again. He made no effort to follow me.

Why he did this I am unsure. I did boot it when I went past but quickly settled to a cruise. Whether this annoyed him I dont know. I like to think I've got a decent sense of humour, but if this was a joke, I fail to see the funny side.

Should I report it do you think, or is it (as my folks seem to think) a waste of time and a phone call.

Report it including , time and location as well as registration and also descripion of the chap wh 'showed' his warrant card. if its genuine they will be able to explain their actions. If its not then it will be worthy of at the least an information marker on pnc so that any ANPR unit will stop and investigate.

It is worth reporting.

Could be 3 lads looking to pretend to be plod in order to get you out of your car and to "borrow" it whilst giving you a small kicking.

Also could be 3 lads pulling over a vulnerable young woman and dragging her into the bushes.

Report it.

You said "what could be construed as a police id card" I'm interested in that bit. Police warrant cards are the same size as a banc, library, credit, rail ticket, bus ticket, NCCP parking ticket, military id, office id, bla bla bla. What made you immeadiatly think it was a police warrant card?

Im only asking.
