I take it no-one wanted to overtake them?
Nope - they had a white Rav 4 type thingy with Police written on the back - was funny seeing everyone slam on their brakes and tuck in behind them at 69.9mph!!!
And if anyone wonders, I drove 360 miles today, so I really have nothing better to talk about!!!

Happens all the time, usually with HATOs which most drives can't tell from BiB. Two lanes of law abiding traffic leaving one lane free for me - wheyhey!!!

I came across a HATO (at a speed I'll never mention) on a deserted section of the A1M in the wee smalls recently.... Scared the bejesus out of me for a moment
That fecker owes me at least one mm of brake pads and no mistake.

What sort of powers do the British Transport Police have on the road?
They CAN be called upon to help local plod but normally they only have plod powers if it's in connection with BT business or on BT land.
I'm sure Von will be along to disagree with me shortly.
BTW I was pulled by them for speeding and I told them to feck off because I wasn't driving a train.

BTP (not BT) have police powers on the railways, and land connected with the railways.
I do believe power of arrest does extend off-network?
I do believe power of arrest does extend off-network?
Only if in connection with BT (as in British Transport) business or if local plod requests their help.
However I'm sure I've heard it said that if you speed past them then they can radio the local plod and enquire if local plod would like them (the BTP) to assist local plod by nicking you. Then they have a valid request from local plod and can take action. I could be wrong often am........

I was round the corner and up the hill in about a minute - not really a fair contest, and I wouldn't have stopped for them anyway!!
Not to stop when requested is NOT the sensible answer.
AS stated before in some circumstances they have the same powers as any other officers.
