Ten years or so back there was a very high-profile murder in my (then) division, and after a very long and protracted investigation, two men were charged and then remanded into custody. As they needed to be transported as cat "A" prisoners, they required a three-vehicle convoy, and I was recruited as driver of the lead car. Unfortunately, I didn't know the way to the prison to which they'd been remanded, so a local Sergeant who knew the way jumped in with me.
Now, the case had attracted a lot of national media attention and I was aware that there were a number of TV cameras lined up next to the exit ramp of the nick. Unfortunately for me, the Sergeant who'd jumped in with me was renowned as being a funny bugger, and as we started to exit the nick, he said something which really cracked me up.
So, my one and only (so far) starring role on the 6 o'clock news involved a very serious report on the tragic murder of a local man, followed by footage of the convoy leaving the nick, led by a traffic car which was being driven by some buffoon who was quite clearly pissing himself laughing.
I've avoided cameras ever since.

In fact I'm on telly tomorrow, behind the camera, filming the BSB at Thruxton.
