"Not for hire or reward"
Discussion
We got stung by this going over to Spa 2 years ago, we were in a privately owned rigid HGV (approx 22,000kgs) with a DB4 lightweight & a DB4 Zagato in the back. We got pulled by the Begian Police & because we didn't have "NOT FOR HIRE OR REWARD" on the side we got stung 250euros.
Apparently commercial HGV'x need some kind of special TAX diasc over there.

I read this and then think about this thread and weep.

I read something recently about horse box owners having a problem too with a HGV box if they accept prize money. Typical daft application of the law but because they were in recept of payment for their driving (technically, not in practice), the driver needed a different license and insurance - I can't remember the exact details so don't take my word for it but have a look in a horsey magazine for the full details.
A new law EU reg 561/2006 applied from April 11th 2007 this makes ANY vehicles plated at over 7500kgs must use a calibrated tachograph and the driver must use a chart in the tacho and abide by the EU drivers hours rules. This applies to all private HGV's over 7500kgs whether run privately or not. The thread really refers to the potential to apply for a restricted operators licence if what you are doing is "commercial"
