Hi All,

I keep reading references on here to people simply ignoring NIPs for offences that would carry more than 3 points, and in return being sent a new one, for Failure to Supply Driver Details - which carries a fine and 3 point penalty. This all seems too easy - is that really how it works?!

Thanks

Dave

It is an MS90 offence which usually has a higher insurance weighting than a standard 3 pointer.

Secondly, the fine is around £200, and not £60.

Horses for courses - if the speeding offence would be a 'court job' which would end up in 4,5 or 6 points then this can be a factor to consider.

So that really IS how it works then! The fine is higher, but as you say, if it's a court job then it's worth considering I guess. Interesting. Thanks.

Changing to 6 points under the Road Safety Act & it carries a discretionary disqualification already.

"Road Safety Act"

Doesn't the Trades Descriptions Act ban blatent lies like that?

"Vicious Oppressive Twonkery Act" is more like it, none of it is about safety, all of it is about making defence more difficult.

Vote to purge this poison!

The Road Safety Act doesn't change the offence or the evidence required to convict. It's only changed the sentencing available.
