6 points or 28 day ban... which would you take?
Discussion
Hi all
Anyone got any experience on how to plea in court?
I've got a court case looming soon because I got caught in Hampshire doing a 101 on a motorway in the eveningo in clear dry conditions. I need my licence for work and have hired a solicitor to help. Apparently discrediting the kit used is unlikely to get me anywhere so I'm planning to go for damage limitation.
I'm trying to work out which will be cheaper/easier in the long run (insurance costs mainly). Assuming the conviction code is SP50 I think going for the hefty fine and 6 points would be better? Does anyone know that a 28 day ban would be better? Last night I spoke to a couple of companies and no one could tell me anything helpful on what should be cheaper. Also some told me incorrect information i.e. you would get a ban and points...
Thanks v much! (I'll feedback the outcome to help others!)

Try using an online insurance quote system and put different details into them ie one with a ban and one with points only?
I had a similar situation ( also Hampshire ).
I went for the points. Insurence companies seemed quite relaxed about the points, but always checked to make sure
A) they weren't as a result of an accident
B) I had not been banned as well.
In fact, I went from 0 to 10 points in one insurence year ( OK, I didn't learn ), and it was only slightly more expencive.
I had a £250 fine to match the 6 points ( SP50 ).
This was 10 years ago, so things may have changed.
