Folks i just noticed on my license that I have an SP30 from 1998 and one from 2002. How long are these points valid for?? Am I correct in assuming that they are no longer valid and I have 0 points???

Valid for totting purposes for 3 years.

Must remain on licence for 4 years.

Declarable to most insurance companies for 5 years.

All from date of offence..

Is that right, from date of offence not date of conviction?

So, given I lost my licence under totting up in November 2003 for an offence in July 2003, is that declarable for insurance from July 2008 or November 2008?

For an SP offence in July 2003, the five years would be up in July 2008.

However, the DVLA state that disqualifications require to stay on your licence for a period of four years from the date of conviction. Whether this means that a totting disqualification is declarable for five years from date of conviction or date of last offence is probably down to the individual insurance company and the way they phrase the question..

Or just wait until you move house and send a nice letter asking if they will remove those at the same time as they are now spent.

worked for me with my 2000 SP30 in 2006
