Hi all! I was parked on Burnham sea front last Friday evening, just over the edge of a parking bay so most of the car was on the double yellows. The road is called The Esplanade. Anyway, got back to car at 21.05 and saw the ticket below on the windscreen. My neighbour said a Police car stopped and Two officers looked over the car for about 15 minutes, then issued the ticket.

Does anyone know what offence code 611BUN is? They named the road as The Esspanade. Can anyone tell what make of car it is? What does essary mean? Also, why isn't it signed with rank and number?

Quite funny really, looks like some semi illiterate kid issued it!

I unfortunately have no answer directly to your questions, but perhaps 611BUN is the officer?

Either way, if you have balls you could fight it - I would have thought that a valid FPN would have to be signed?

I'd take it in to the local station. The ticket needs to say what the offence is. As for the spelling. If it was my officer I'd be cancelling the ticket and be sitting down for a chat with the officer. Along with a dictionary.

I know the Esplanade well. Is Mike's Fun Bar still going?

The offence on the ticket is unnecessary obstruction, looks like the carbon paper has moved.

Got it! 611B is the offence code, which does indeed mean unnecessary obstruction. AS the others say, the ticket looks a little damp and appears to have moved on the carbon paper.

Glad to hear that Burnham officers have sufficient time to be bothering with DYL offences on a rainy evening! Methinks one of your neighbours complained.

I would send a photocopy of the ticket to the Central Ticket Office and point out that it is not signed, the road name is mis-spelt and time is clearly altered. You have, IMHO, a good chance of cancelling this one with a simple polite letter.

"Due process" has to be followed and this ticket looks like it was issued by a 5-year old and is not correctly filled in.

Go into the station and contest it, there doesn't seem to be one thing right on it, name of the road is spelt wrong, the time has been corrected, there are no issuing officer's details or signature.

Would have thought an Inspector would curl up in shame.

I received a reply to my letter below today...

I received the enclosed FPN on 4th may. It was attached to my wind screen, my vehicle being parked on The Esplanade, Burnham on sea.

I'm having difficulty in establishing what offence it has been issued for? The notice has offence 611BUN written on it. I'm not sure of it's authenticity either as it has not been signed with rank and number, which I thought would have been normal practice?

Please could you write or email me with advice on whether the ticket is genuine, as other errors include road name, time, make and model.

Many thanks,

......

I refer to the above Fixed Penalty Notice.

After consideration of all the facts I have decided to warn you for this offence in the expectation that you will not offend again.

The Fixed Penalty Notice is hereby cancelled.

If you have already paid the Fixed Penalty Notice we will be notifying the Magistrates' Court to issue a refund.

The notice was issued because your vehicle was on a yellow line. Unfortunately, the incorrect offence coding was used.

Yours sincerely

......
So a good result for me! smile
