Hi, returned home at 7pm this evening to find that my house had been broken into, clearly very thoroughly searched but nothing I can see missing. TVR still inthe drive and keys still hidden. I guess whoever it was got disturbed. So I reported this to the Police thinking they should know. I'm a realist, so I don't expect much, but I would of thought I'd might had received a bit of attention by now (almost 2 hours later). I'm no expert but I would of thought the ipod on which had clearly been picked up might have some forensic value. I've also spoken to the neighbours and it turns out that there were Police here at 4.20 apparently looking for someone. So my questions are. Clearly something happened today which the Police repeonded to. Can I find out what, I guess someone noticed the break-in all reported it. Can I find out who and thank them.
How long should I expect to wait to find out if they are going to send someone around to collect forensics.

Smiler.

Doesn't someone have to be murdered before they do this?

Furry. Call them back. Say there's someone in your garden and you're taking your shotgun out there to investigate. They'll be round in no time.

Call them back & see if they have an ETA.

To be honest with no suspect still at the scene & you at home, you can realisticly expect that it would be a few hours before an officer would attend & you can also expect that a scenes of crime officer won't be there this evening at all.

Hi Von

Didn't expect that much, but I did hop that someone would let me know when someone was likely to attend, I fully appreciate it's Friday night and the later it gets the more difficult it will get to find someone to contact me. I did explain when I called back that I'm away for the next few days so just turning up wasn't an option. I was hoping for at least a phone call

If you want to know, give them a ring so you are in the picture, you never know how long you'll have to wait for them to call you.

Flintsone, Have resonded, cheers.
Von, Keep getting through to an operator who is unable to tell me anything, it's a bit frustrating that even though I've called the local number I get a centralised operator who knows nothing and just passes messages.

officer has just left (11.40) don't expect that much to come of it, but it'll be interesting to see if they manage to get a print form the ipod and match it to the people they stopped ealier today.

... be very careful with this... several friends of mine have been broken into recently and have been involved in identity fraud scams including loss of bank funds and insurance claims (500K on a death policy claim). Be careful with your bank statements and report to your bank anything suspicious on your account immediately.
