Hi guys

Something peculiar happened to me today, on the way to the office.

Got into the slip road to join the A2. Three cars : a van, me and someone else on my tail. The three entering the motorway at a perfectly sensible speed. On the near end of the slip road, right-hand side, there is a GATSO which supposedly looks towards the motorway just before traffic joins in. Look into my mirror and run head slightly to check for traffic comng from the A2 and no-one there, not a flea.

At that moment and still not having joined the motorway I spot 3 flashes fom the GATSO. WTF? It looks as one for each vehicle, as we were (obviously) doing the same speed when going into the A2 in succession.

Never-ever been caught speeding, and now what? And on top of that none of the 3 cars was speeding, but the GATSO flashed to someone, and there was not a single car coming through the motorway.

Anyone had any similar experience? Cannot believe a GATSO is pointing simultaneously to the motorway and the slip road, and if it was out of alignment, I was very certainly below the 50 mph speed limit for the thing to trigger.

Dazed and confused.

Smiler.

A butterfly flapping it's wings somewhere in a patagonian rain forest can set them off. I once set off the one at the foot of the M4 elevated section going into London. Thing is, I was travelling in the opposite direction (it is on the eastbound carriageway only).

I've also set off the one in Long Lane Hillingdon (30mph limit) off numerous time whilst travelling at 30mph.

If you were at or below the limit, you'll be fine

Cheers. But the interesting thing is how the dammit thing can catch a vehicle still on the slip road if it should be aiming at the motorway?

Will see...

(forgot: a flea can trigger it..)
