Just wanted to check before parting with any cash. Are laser diffusers illegal?

Haven't bought one yet. I've got a snooper gps based system, but there just seem to be so many mobile units in addition to the fixed cameras these days that I was just looking for additional protection. And before all the 'if you don't speed you won't get caught' messages come in, I'm not a boy racer looking to speed for the sake of it, but we all exceed the speed limit on occasions; I do around 50k business miles a year and it's just getting so easy to pick up points.

tend to look at the speed limits on the big signs and if cant see any assume it is a 30 mph limit, seems to work fairly well
