Advice Required from BiB please
Discussion
I’m just wondering whether the following incident should be recorded and am seeking the advice of the BiB on here please.
On the way home this morning at 08:00 or thereabouts, on the A325 just off the Shepherd and Flock roundabout near Farnham.
I was in the correct lane to exit the roundabout, and became aware of a silver Golf to my right and level showing no indication, but starting to drift suspiciously towards ‘my’ lane. (There being only one proper exit lane from the roundabout, which I was occupying. i.e. the Golf had traversed the roundabout in a lane that should have resulted in a trip to the next exit)
You know that feeling you get when you think “…that idiot is going to come across on me….”? Well, sure enough, that idiot did.
Despite the fact that I was in a LR Disco and could have been a bully, I’d just left my girlfriend’s house, the sun was shining, all was well with the world and I was in no particular hurry to get anywhere. Consequently I braked and the Gold cut across my nose.
“Oh well, such is life” I think to myself and shake my head. At that moment the Golf driver obviously noticed my shaking head and decided to brake test me. Thankfully I was maintaining sufficient distance that I was able to pull up in time with out drama.
I of course shook my head again, at which point the Golf driver became more agitated and attempted a second ‘brake test’. Again I stopped without difficulty and shook my head.
The Gold driver then decided to signal his annoyance by gesticulating in a particularly rude manner.
I responded by simply pointing towards him and then putting my hands together flat and thumb to thumb in an attempt to convey the fact that it was he who had originally moved over and cut me up.
This apparently caused further offence judging by the agitated head motions and arm waving that occurred next.
About half a mile later we pulled up at traffic lights where the A287 and A325 separate, and I noticed the Gold driver appear to pull out paper and pen – presumably to take my number. (As a consequence I hastily took the number of the Golf)
On what grounds the Golf driver might feel justified in complaining is a mystery to me, but I wonder if I ought to get the matter formally recorded at my local police station in case there is any (distorted) comeback.
BTW I should possibly mention that I was on a hands-free, fully integrated ‘phone at the time of the incident, talking to a client, and maintained my composure such that I didn’t mention the incident as it occurred, or even swear at the other driver. i.e. Not the slightest hint of road rage on my part.
What is the opinion of the BiB I wonder? Forget it or get it logged?
Many thanks

Well done for having grown up and doing nothing. The correct decision! (Thank God he didnt get out and march towards you in stationary traffic leaving you nowehere to go?)
In my own experience, I didnt report someone and then got one of those lovely little letters from the Police confirming they were not going to do anything on this occasion but the incident would be noted and kept on file.
Does this really happen? Anybody know for cetrain?
Get your defence/attack in first and waste more time for the BiB. Unfortuante; but this is the World we live in thanks to that legacy to55er who is off to save the World.
BTW, assuming you are telling the truth; are you seriously saying that it is possible to be involved in 'road rage incidents' without actually doing anything wrong?

Technically he did, by reacting and "giving him the Kenco"

Not sure what you mean by "The Kenco",nor to whom you are referring (me or him, as it were), but for the avoidance of doubt:
The only signal I made was flat hands indicating two cars side-by-side with right car shoving left car further to left until left car behind right car. If that makes sense.
I at no time made any rude or obscene gestures.
I'm also confused as to whether the concensus is that I should or should not report it... and if I do, do I do it in person or by 'phone?

Flat hands eh! That gesture is extremely rude to the Edbangaz tribe of the middle Volka delta. Just down the river from G'tiville.
The nearest translation is "I share your sister with my camel" - very obscene!
All he wanted to do was share your lane - very selfish of you.

Very good Russ
But by then I'd let him share my lane, and in front of me as well, which is almost unheard of for the driver of a 4x4.
Ah perhaps that's it: All his hand waving and apparent ranting was in shock at the fact that there may be an (occasionally) courteous 4 x 4 driver....
...perhaps I'd just destroyed one of the myths upon which his very existance is based.

Apologies Mr Zulu - by the Kenco I meant the "you practise onanation" sign, commonly consisting of a cleched fist being shaked....
To be clear, by shaking your head, and doing it again after he brake tested you, you would him up. It wasn't your fault, and you didn't start it, but you contributed to the escalation.
Drivers are funny creatures, and don't like the headshake, or indeed any gesture indicating their own incompetence (however justified it may be).
I'm not saying that it's right, or fair, but if you enter into any communication with another road user, then you are risking it escalating into a road rage incident.

From what you've written he hasn't got anywhere to go with this.
However, if he is a lying cock he could make something up (not to frighten you - just accepting that ot everyone speaks the gospel when trying to get the Old Bill to settle scores). Even then, I doubt it would go anywhere.
If the numb-nuts can't drive around a roundabout properly - there is little chance that he'll drive to a police station and make a statement.

Well, I thought the first rule of the 4 x 4.
Thats by the rules of the road, my lane, and the golf can just go over the round a bout or stop.
If he chooses to side swipe me, well, that will cost him money.
We have a very similar round a bout, and I actually look forward to "them" trying one on the inside.
Iv'e not lost out yet.
