MOT and tax - whats the deal?

OK, been a total numpty and have forgotten to renew road tax till today. Do it on the phone and told MOT.

Think it cant be right, so go and check and lo and behold, MOT out 2 days ago. Was a total idiot for not remembering

But, what are my options now?

Is there a grace period on any of these? Obviously i need an MOT to get the road tax, but to get the MOT i need to drive

On hold to the DVLA but thought i would ask the PH wise ones..

You are allowed to drive an un-taxed car to or from a pre-arranged MOT test, so you'll be ok as long as you ring up and book first.

cool. Parked off street now, will take it for MOT tomorrow then i assume i must park it off road while i get my tax disc?

Suspect so --BUT don't forget to phone up garage /test station to book MOT .
Permission is for "PRE BOOKED MOT VISIT"
