Just got flashed doing about 37 in a 30 on Hammersmith Road. Fair enough. However, the DVLA still has my address as that of my folks, and so this is where the NIP will go. Also fair enough. Problem is, i wasn't in my car, i was on my motorbike - the one my mum doesn't know i have, speeding, with a passenger. I have the same name as my dad, and she's just going to open it on up. Arse.

Please tell me that there will be no photo, and she's going to berate me simply for being an idiot in my car, and not castrate me for being an idiot and having a bike.

Cheers,

Rob.

Despite being flashed you may never hear of it again, keep your fingers crossed for the next 14 days (18 to be on the safe side).

Alternatively why not talk to your dad and get him onside and get him to censor his post?

Best of luck

Are you more concerned about what your mum will do than the police? You've really made me smile biggrin

I feel for you, as I am in a similar set up myself (except the bike bit)

Last time I got done, the recorded delivery letter addressed to me (or my dad) was actually opened by my mother prior to either of us getting home (She claims she thought it might've be her in my dad's car)

I received quite an "ear bashing" for that one.

The DVLA use the address on the V5. Surely you used your correct address for that if it was a recent acquisition?

Shouldn't be a photo, but it might have the vehicle make. If it was a Triumph, just tell her you've bought an old Spitfire.

Can you send a quick address change to DVLA? Include a note asking if they could do it quickly and why. They might be amused enough to rush it through.

Why did you register the bike there as well, surely when you bought it the V5 would have been sent there anyway? - or were you living there when you bought it, in which where did you hide the bugger when you got home hehe

In my defence, it's mainly to save her from the worry. Also, the reason my license is in my folk's address is that I work internationally, and until recently have had no permanent UK address. Oh hell. Actually, I may have put my office details on the V5, as I would have been thinking of the possibility of being busted.

Anyway, there's a guy I work with who's 56, and has on several occassions hiinted to his mum that he has a bike, and says it just doesn't sink in. Also, I've told my brother, and he thinks I'm taking the p*ss, as I'd not be that stupid.

They're not chuffed about the chimp, but at least can relate.

As for getting dad on board, don't know. He used to have a BSA Bantam, and was a nut bar on it, I'm told. Mum came along, bike went. Don't know if this'll bring him onside, or the envy factor will kick in.

Ah, well...when in Rome.....no, that's not right...

I can imagine the conversation:

"Hello Scam central."
"Yes hello, I was recently speeding in a 30mph zone on x road at y time."
"Ah, excellent, there was no film in the camera but I have recorded you admitting the offence so the ticket is on its way [to your mum's house.]

It took me 18 months before I plucked up the courage to let Mum see my first bike! And then I told her that it was a mates and that he had a 3 month ban so I was just 'borrowing' it until he got his licence back! She did eventually get used to it and even came for a very slow spin about 3 years later.

Mothers are wonderful things but Lord dont wanna cross her or upset her; just couldnt do it... nono
