Suspicious- Downing St. Poll on Scameras
Discussion
I have tried for the second time to vote on this petition, without success.
If you fill in your details, it says that you will get an email which you have to click on to be entered onto the petition. I never get the email !!
I am suspicious that this is a deliberate bug in the system to reduce the number of votes.
If you think about it,only 24,500 votes on the issue of scameras is an incredibly low response to such a hot issue, especialy when you consider the embarrassment caused to HMG by the two and a half million votes on the road pricing issue.
Comments anyone?

I don't know about that, but the Department for Transport were on my doorstep telling me that I had been chosen to be involved in a nationwide transport survey.
You can tell why they picked me..... I'm unemployed and never go anywhere.
Having worked for the government I'm aware that they'll just ignore you, and use your association as an indication of support for whatever madness they try to do next. Needless to say I was having none of it. The intelligent approach is to get involved and bend them into your way of thinking, but fankly I'm past that.

I've received a couple of dozen complaints that the signing process hasn't worked. Perhaps a quarter of those have found the verification email in a spam trap. If you can try an alternative email address it might well work immediately. If you fill in your details, it says that you will get an email which you have to click on to be entered onto the petition. If there was a 'plot' to reduce the number of signatures, I think I would have recived thousands of complaints.
The main reason that the number of signatures is low is because it really hasn't had much in the way of publicity. News organisations don't want to be complicit in creating another monster like the road pricing one, so they aren't giving it publicity.
On that basis, it needs all the help it can get, so please do whatever you can to spread the word.

I've not received my confirmatory email either. I get enough ads for viagra to make me think I don't have a spam trap, so who knows?
Please keep trying and keep me posted. If we got evidence that there was a fiddle, I'm CERTAIN that we could make plenty of news with that!I got my email ok .....

Can I buy a "Speed Cameras no thanks" sticker please? Although I guess I'd put it in the family car rather than the GT2 in case it sends out the wrong message.
SM
They don't exist right now. I'm working flat out on 'Scrap Speed Cameras Week' and I hope that there will be stickers and leaflets. Right now I need funding and distribution facilities.SM
Anyone want to help?

You are having a laugh. The 'Scrap speed cameras' petition was active at the time of the road pricing petition when the whole subject got more publicity than any internet based motoring campaign is likely to get in the foreseeable future. The fact that camera petition has such a small fraction of signatures to that of the road pricing one is the strongest evidence we will ever get; a large proportion of Britain's motorists don't want road pricing but they don't want to scrap speed cameras.
Isn't it ironic that this strongest piece of evidence was the making of the Safespeed campaign itself?
