Speed Awareness...can I have some ammo?
Discussion
Right well I have my speed awareness course soon...
They gave me a sheet to fill out, which asks you if you think speed camera's reduce accidents, if they're effective, if they are a waste of money etc.
I've read many statistics on here and other forum's stating that they make sod all difference and are just a way of the government to make money...
Basically I'd like some solid evidence to quote at the course of why speed camera's are a load of bo
ocks so I can at least try and prove a point, do you know where I can find the speed camera statistics etc. or does anyone have any they can give me which I can note down?

Might be best to sing their song...They gave me a sheet to fill out, which asks you if you think speed camera's reduce accidents, if they're effective, if they are a waste of money etc.

I don't want to have an argument, I just want to hear what they have to say about all the statistics I've read on here, proving speed camera's to be pretty useless.
Surely they can't fail you for asking questions and quoting facts?

A camera as just been removed from a motorway in Port Talbot South Wales. The authorities are being very cagey about the removal reasons stating that it is being removed because it is causing congestion.
This is a load of codswallop all in South Wales know and the authority have previously admitted that since the camera as been installed there has been more accidents caused usually by motorists seeing a limit on a motorway with no roadworks of 50 mph then seeing the camera and braking to adjust their speed causing a domino effect accident.
The following link gives reasoning but if you search further then you should find the original press release whereupon, the authority admits the accident ratio increased.

I got caught doing 33 by a speed camera, it was at the bottom of a hill. I've been back since and there aren't even any schools or houses on this road, nothing that could prove to be a hazard at 40mph... just a petrol station. The camera has no point in being there other than to make money as I think a lot of people tend to use it as a short-cut when it's busy.

Yeah it says 33mph on the letter from the police.
I didn't notice the speed camera because you can't actually fully see it until it's too late as the angle to which you come down the hill blocks off the camera with a signpost.
Oh well, live and learn. I have found the statistics I was looking for now, it's just the letter they send you makes it out that speed cameras are the most brilliant things ever invented and stop everyone being killed when it's clearly not the case and it's just a way for them to make more money.
Why don't they do away with the fines and just issue points?
