Want a Kebab?
Well evidently they did the other night as while I was on a works night out. A few colleagues and I stood out the back of the Chinese we had just gorged in having a fag before finishing our drinks and moving on. We were stood about chatting and a police van (looked more like a minibus) pulled up on double yellow lines on the main road maybe 5 meters from a pelican crossing's ziz zag lines and directly after a corner.
They walked past us down a side street off the main road and into a well respected local kebab house, which sitting proudly at the side of it was, I might add, an empty parking bay. The rest is elementary really although I did make a complaint to the local constabulary but the gentleman on the end of the phone wasn't very helpful!
Nothing to debate about I just found it interesting.

Would you be likely to be stuck on by a BiB for parking on double yellows at that time of night? Probably not.
Are BiB human and, contrary to popular belief, have to eat occasionally? Yes.
Are there better things to be tying up an "unhelpful" control room operator with? Yes.
Advice: Get over it.

I saw the same thing happen at the kebab shop nearest to the police club at Chigwell, a panda car pulled up and double parked so that the cars behind them couldn't pass, two police officers walked in, went straight to the front of the queue, collected their order and left. When they first came in I thought that they had been called to an incident, when they just picked up their order and returned to their (double parked) car I was speechless. No doubt they would also be entitled to an exemption from the speed limits as they rushed back to base before their kebabs got cold.Well evidently they did the other night as while I was on a works night out. I'm not saying that they were not entitled to lunch, it was the total lack of courtesy that disappointed me.

Different situation, and on the circumstances presented then fair comment, that sounds rather like mickey taking. However you do slightly cheapen the point by inserting a cheap shot about speed exemptions, of which in this case you appear to have no personal knowledge.I'm not saying that they were not entitled to lunch, it was the total lack of courtesy that disappointed me.
I was on the M18 a while back, went to the services and 2 officers were in the queue for coffee, I went and stood behind them. They deliberately moved out of my way and went to the back of the queue saying "we dont hold up the public if we dont need to, roads are bad enough as it is "
After me telling them coffee needs are the same no matter what, they wouldnt have it and insisted I went infront of them
In your examples I think I'd rather have them go before me, they're probably more time constrained than I am

Any authorised Police Station will have cells and very often they are full up to the gunnels with local offenders/overspill from HMP.
Now these poor tortured souls have Human Rights. One them is that they have to be fed. Very few Cop Shops have a McDonalds built in so food has to be outsourced so it just could be that Plods were collecting food from outlet that had contract to supply. As food has to be served reasonably hot/warm hence the queue jumping and close parking for a quick getaway with the takeaway..
...for every action there is usually an explanation.

Ah but if you would have actually read my post properly as opposed to just formulating an excuse you would have noticed i said there was a parking space right next to the kebab house. It would have been easier and MUCH safer and quicker to park there as opposed to on a main road, infront of a pedestrian crossing and directly after a corner! Now these poor tortured souls have Human Rights. The only difference it would have made to the officer would have been the need to turn the veichle in the side street, which their was more than ample room to do!

....And of course, on a weekend night at kicking out time there is no chance of a police van being needed in a hurry, is there? I for one would park in the quickest spot to deploy in a hurry.
Wednesday night, 10pm so well before kicking out time in Peterborough centre. Not a huge demand for a huge police van type thing. So its ok for Police to park on a main road, infront of a pedestrian crossing, right after a bend on double yellows is it to buy a kebab when there is a perfectly good parking space a stones throw away?
And if the van was needed in a hurry then surely it would have been more sensible for the van to park down the side street as that would not restrict the direction of travel to the direction the van was facing, if he was down the side street he could have made a get away in either direction......
Just because they uphold the law it doesn't give them the right to break it when it suits just because they couldnt be arsed turning down the side street! These types of double standards and hypocrisy unfortunatly give the good (and I know most are) BIB a bad name.......

They may well have been getting a freebee and didn't want you to witness it. Were doughnuts involved?

Of course, if nicks still had messes, the situation would be the same ... because it would be contrary to the prisoners' Human Rights to feed them the food from the mess Now these poor tortured souls have Human Rights.
