GATSOs and Mobile Camera vans
Discussion
I was chatting with a colleague at work today who's just received an NIP, from a mobile site.
Colleague wasn't sure where the van was parked, so I've had a look at Google maps to point it out...
...amd blow me, there's the van in question (just below the Gatso lines, south side of the road, tailgate open).
Sorry, couldn't work out how to get the picture on screen without the clicky clicky link.

I hope your friend has learnt his lesson, speeding on that empty, straight section of dual carriageway could have caused carnage! Colleague wasn't sure where the van was parked, so I've had a look at Google maps to point it out...

To be fair it could have been busy at the time he was 'caught'. He should have slowed down for the gatso markings on the road, how careless. He'll just be another statistic.
Boosted.
It doesn't look very busy when the photo was taken, and the van is out catching those motorists 'ignoring the parameters imposed on them'. I suspect that any approaching motorists are caught way before the gatso markings, probably on the opposite carriageway to the van as soon as they clear the treeline,Boosted.

The eastbound and westbound used to be NSL DC, now reduced to SC 50s.Plenty of people get pinged heading east (ie towards the van).

So are we meant to offer condolences to a BiB caught wantonly speeding on a Scamera?
It's like asking an Auschwitz victim to pay the gas bill.
Nope, not at all (unless you want to). It's like asking an Auschwitz victim to pay the gas bill.
The point of my post was nothing more interesting than (a) I was surprised the satellite imagery was good enough to pick up the Gatso lines (although you can see other white lines, so it shouldn't be any surprise), and (b) What are the chances of actually "catching" a mobile van on GE?
ANd in response to your second (rather tasteless, IMO) comment, the colleague concerned has NEVER reported anyone for speeding, and has actually done very little traffic process at all since their probation, which was quite a few years ago.
As I said, posted more for the "novelty" value of the camera van on film.
