Over the past few months I have seen plod from warwickshire sitting several hundred meters over the west midlands boundry, today they seem to be inside the boundy and have an ANPR van parked in the west midlands pulling people.

We are told that todays operation is to look for cars involved in terrorist activities, obviously they are pulling everyone else.

So does any plod know how they are allowed to operate well within the west midlands border?

They can operate anywhere within England and Wales, as can any regular officers.

No I assumed that as my council tax bill states a charge for the police in MY county then I wouldn't be paying for them to be somewhere else.

I don't mind them being there I just think the residents of warwickshire who are actually paying for them might be a tad pissed off.

Look at it this way if you were paying would you rather them patrolling your street or off in someone elses county stopping people with no car tax?

wait until 2012, then you will likely get shot by a gun-toting policeman from almost anywhere (for speeding, of course) - Streaky

Until very recently I'd have said I’d bet a pound to a pinch of shi :ahem: snuff that these boys were from CMPG who at that time operated throughout the force areas Warwickshire, West Midlands, Staffordshire, West Mercia.

However Warwickshire pulled out of CPMG in June so area covered and forces involved are less.

Are you sure they are Warwickshire?

I don't care where they go if they catch baddies who might otherwise be in my area. I expect the rate payers of Warwickshire might agree too.

You're still not getting what I am on about and I have already stated I don't mind them being there.

What I am saying is that the amount you pay towards council tax is different in each area, now a certain portion of that is to pay for police, the amount is based on the cost of policing your area, coventry itself probably has 10x the officers warwickshire has.

Now if your council tax is x amount based on the contribution you pay towards policing and you then find the police you are paying for are off somewhere else stopping cars on roads that do not even cross your area wouldn't you be a little bit miffed?

Would you pay a gardener and be happy that he does the house over the road leaving the weeds to roam free in your back yard?

Do you think the rate payers in London care when the MET SB or anti terrorism branch follow someone out of London?
Your argument is based on a fallacy anyway. I pay a huge amount of council tax (band G) and rarely see the police.
In the inner city hardly anyone pays and they have police all over the place.
Do I care. Of course not.

Who me ?
