Mate at work has just received a fixed penalty notice for doing 58 in a 50. Is it worth him appealing? He's mightly close to 12 points and has just bought a new car.

TIA

I'd say its tough sh*t, he should have learnt the first few times eh?.

Not quite sure what he'd appeal against either, seeing as the limit was 50mph and all.

That's what I said to him, he's only had the car a few weeks now and has already for 6 points (including this lot) in the last 2 weeks!

Oh well, I'm sure it'll hit home when he's looking out of the window at the new car he's banned from driving wink

How close to 12 is he now? Just remind him when he's banned how hard it'll be to get to work /golf / family*

He's on 6 points already so this will be 9. Ouch!

Then let's hope he becomes a model citizen.

I mean, let's face it, he is simply risking life and limb travelling at silly speeds anyways, and must have had at least 3 accidents in order to have been caught speeding 3 times, so he may never learn...................

Or, he can buy himself a cap, and a hoodie, wear both at once, and just steal a new car and drive it anyway smile

Isnt the saying along the lines of;

Once = Unlucky,
Twice = Careless,
Thrice = Just plain stupid?

Only every had 2 speeding convictions in 10 years of driving, and I don't exactly plod along either hehe

Your mate needs to learn its not about driving fast, its knowing where you can and cannot drive fast and take the risk accordingly.

I did not modify how fast I drive after said convictions, I just chose where I did more carefully hehe

what car does your mate drive? is it standard etc?
does he wear either a cap, or 'trendy' shades while driving?

Depends on whether he thinks he's innocent really. Somehow I think the answer is no to both questions

Unless his speedo is calibrated it would have more than likely showed a higher speed than 58.Therefore he would have been well aware he was speeding.What does he think he has to appeal against?
