Anyone know why?

There must have been, conservatively, over 20 cars and 40-50 officers stationed at Magor services this morning. Are they clamping down on certain motorists?

Ta.

It's good to see resources ploughed into catching real criminals rather than the unfair pursuit of legitamite drivers occasionally transgressing out of date speed limits.

Let's here it for RNPR - police doing something sensible at last clap

ANPR is a great system. Needs to be more widespread and more linked between forces.

Instead of PCSOs, council wardens, community safety wardens and the 5 billion other shit jobs they should just plow it into the Police and have loads of operations like this on a daily basis.
unfortunaley all these are labour spin, they quote these thing as areas that have been improved and billions spent. just employ proper police who can arrest people and not have to run around after these fake civil servants without any powers

Hardly. The police are not going to tell you what they are doing and they are not likely to give a 'heads up' to a criminal about there activities. In the same way if you see a front door smashed in at ahouse they won't tell you about that either. The police have secrets and operations that are to be polite none of your business. I'd be most annoyed if I had set up an operation only for someone to phone up and be told all about it. Thus defeating the object of the operation.

Even other officers are not aware of many operations that get run. Why should a member of the public be any more informed?

I spotted that as well, a whole fleet of plain Vectras (with blue lights in rear window) lined up on the hard shoulder.

They should get that american Bod to build a tent prison, surround it with Mahoosive guards and big guns, and then let locals feed them with leftovers........if they can be arsed to trudge 50mls from nearest town !! Beyond that, let the bastards starve.

The PNC do offer a national ANPR service. Just transmit the plate info to PNC and it is checked against the national database for all interest markers. Response time is sub-second.
