Please show the direction the face of the sign is pointing.

Is it Diagram 610 or 609?

Is the arrow pointing to "9 o'clock" or to "7:30"?
The latter is Keep Left, not left turn only.

As with the High Street Ken junction, I think you need to turn left and travel in a leftwards direction at least until you are established in lane and clearly travelling left, and then execute a u-turn if permitted.

I would say your diagram does not match the photo, and so from the photo a left turn only is quite clear and you can only turn left, not go straight on or right or anywhere. smile

Is this thread referring to the same junction?

To my mind you cant pull the U turn until your past the bus lane and theres a junction where you'd be allowed to turn right with all the associated "broken" lines. Otherwise you'd have to cross a solid white line...

And you know that I'm going to tell you:-
i) If it's not defined in law, then it's down to the magistrate to decide what the natural meaning of the words is... and ...

ii) ...no magistrate is going to hear this case as it's brought either by the borough or TfL and you will need to appeal to a quasi-judicial arbitration panel.

As I've posted elsewhere, it's an inconvenience to traffic turning right into the side-road if there is traffic doing half-left and then rights, whereas there is no inconvenience if they do a proper left and yield prior to the u-turn. I know in your case no traffic was oncoming, but the point remains about the difference between the two.

In the photos I've seen of these there is no doubt that it's a kinky right turn, rather than a left + U.

Well it did before the offences were decriminalised and taken from those in uniform to those elected to run the borough.
