First post here so hello to everyone, been lurking here for years but never joined up till now.

I had a crash in my integra type-r in april which sadly ended up being written off. my court date was july 16th so i pleaded guilty by letter as im over in the states, just found out that i have been charged with careless driving CD30....7 points and a £400 fine...im young (20) so expected then to be kind of harsh albeit no that harsh.

the saturday prior to coming back over to the states (beginning of july) i was caught speeding whilst over taking a car, average speed was 81.43 or something at the time they clocked me, so i was obviously pulled over for this. The car i was driving at the time had recently been through its MOT and the tread depth on the front tyres were low, so they put it down as an advisery to be done, hadnt had time (well did have but never got round to replacing the tyres) before i was caught speeding...and one of the tyres was below the legal limit. so the policeman has filed to charge me with the speeding offence and tyre...which i think are both fixed penaltys yeah? i never got any ticket or anything but is this due to recieving 2 charges that day, and/or my age meaning that all charges against me have to first go through the P.F (propriotory fiscal or something, cant spell and dont really know what it called ha)....

just wondering if i will definately have the 13 points? or where i stand yada yada...and will it most likely be a 3 month ban due to accumulation of points or.....?

Cheers

Because you had 6 points on your Licence prior to the speeding/tyre incident then the matter cannot be dealt with by FPN because Speed attracts 3 - 6 points and tyres 3 points, which if awarded put the points in excesss of 12 which for 'totting' purposes invokes a 6 month ban. Hence the matter will have to be dealt with at Court. The close proximity of the offences on the time scale makes me think that the Couirt are going to look at you as a 'bad boy' and metre out little sympathy. Start lookin at pedal cycles or a good pair of walking shoes.....

Some of those "roady bikes" are really rather nippy. But you have to have the piston like legs to make them go faster! hehe I think it would be good idea to go to gym to use the spinning classes there. wink as well.

There no such thing as "no time" when it come to making sure car has new tyres. It like not buying your kids new shoes when they wear/grow out for them. It matter of TLC for car & safety for you und everyone else as well. wink For all we know - the incident which wrote off this car (& could have written you off too) might have these tyres as a contributory factor. Another reason why court might not be sympathetic to your case. I would see about getting decent legal advice all the same.

I remember when I was a lad hehe you used to get things called endorsements and if you got 3 of the buggers you got a ban, but if you got more than one on the same day for the same pull it only counted as one for totting up.
Do points not do that?, would the speeding and the tyre not go down as one pull?.

It does sound like a ban is coming your way.

Learn the lesson, make sure the tyres are in good nick at all times, hell, they are the buggers which keep you on the blackstuff and one day might save your life.

fair play for taking it on the chin rather than moaning "how can I get away with this" like some posters on here.

stupid mistakes to make and from what youve just said I bet you wont be doing it again. You never know perhaps you should write a letter to the court saying something along those lines. You may get some leniency in the ban / fine if you're lucky.
